Sources and methods
Theecoroom gathers its news from a monitored set of published feeds and indexes of established news publications across Europe. These sources are selected for their consistent coverage of the site’s core subject matter: the state of the ecosystem, the pressures upon it, and the protection regimes designed to safeguard it. Each selected news story is processed with automated assistance to create a concise, plain-language summary. The original publication is always clearly credited, and a link to the full article is provided.
When a reported fact appears in only one of these monitored publications, it is treated as a single-source claim. Such information is included within the news summary but is not elevated into the site’s permanent reference pages. This practice ensures that theecoroom’s foundational content is built from stable, corroborated information.
The reference pages for ecosystems, species, protection instruments and other entities are constructed separately from the news flow. Each page is built around a verified facts table, drawing from official databases, scientific assessments, and international agreements. A single, credited photograph accompanies these facts. The prose on these pages is written to be clear and concrete, avoiding speculation.
Both news summaries and reference pages are subject to scheduled refresh cycles. News coverage is updated continuously as new reports are published from the monitored sources. The factual reference pages are reviewed and updated on a regular calendar to incorporate new official data, revised scientific classifications, or changes in legal status, ensuring the information remains current and reliable.
